How Can You Use Biology To Your Advantage?

How Can You Use Biology To Your Advantage?Like a monkey or chimpanzee the apes are very similar to us in terms of brain structure, and also in their ability to adapt quickly. The discovery of the ape intelligence and many ways to use it in their daily lives has been a long term venture, but it is relatively new to us humans. Like our close cousins, they have the ability to learn almost immediately and they are constantly making advances in their abilities, sometimes very rapidly, as they were able to find a new way to use their new found powers and develop them into new ways of living, and in our case in a hunter-gatherer society. The most important lessons the ape man has learned is the principles of survival and the art of cooperating with others in order to survive. Primitive man however did not have such important components to their culture. The ape man was like a lazy leaf that sits there doing nothing but eating while all of the cool kids are out playing. That key lesson that th e apes have learned is how to make chemicals from things that they eat, use and digest to keep them alive. These chemicals are then used to help their bodies deal with situations that are much more serious than any short term fight. They can produce weapons, and weapons come in many different forms. It does not matter if it is a stone club, or a spear. This principle is the basis of everything that we do today, because it helps us to create things which are far more effective than any human invention can be. The problem is that, it is also a great safety device for the predator, and if he or she does not take it seriously, then the result can be deadly.A good example of this is hunting by the hand and eye in which the ape man will point to where they see something move or know there is a trap, and then he darts out of the area and casts his weapon. He will never stop unless he realizes the trap is sprung, and then he makes a kill. If the creature or predator does not care about that, they will walk right through the trap and get out of the field to continue what they were doing. However, this system is just about the best we have at present, and it is far less effective than the current methods of hunting that we have. The reason is that the predator will not be in a position to think about anything else, but the ape man who makes such a strong decision on when to make a strike is not. These types of decisions are as close to mind reading as any of us can get, and are one of the main reason that animals never try to trick us into doing things that we don't want to do.These are the two main reasons why the key of finding ways to use your chemistry is so important. You do not always have to run and hide, but if you are a hunter, you need to be able to make those decisions quickly in order to survive.

5 tips on workplace etiquette in Hong Kong

5 tips on workplace etiquette in Hong Kong Starting a new teaching job in any Asian country can be intimidating because many of these countries have a lot of customs any traveler should be aware of, especially when meeting new people. Hong Kong, often described as a place where “East meets West”, due to its Chinese roots and influence from British colonization, can be confusing for any expat. We’ve compiled some tips that will help you before your big move to teach English in Hong Kong:When meeting someone, greet them with a handshake, but be aware that this handshake may be a bit less firm than a Western handshake.Exchanging business cards is also the norm, but be careful when you are doing this! When presenting and receiving business cards, use both hands to hold the card by the corners. If you use only one hand, this could be seen as rude. Also, when you are receiving a business card, look at the card when you take it, or else it could seem dismissive.Gift giving is common. When you first start out in a new workplace , you could bring in treats, such as pastries or snacks, for your colleagues. This is not absolutely necessary, but it is common in the Hong Kong workplace. Plus, you’d get to bond with your new coworkers over food!Standing and sitting can be tricky. Perhaps you’re eating lunch out with coworkers and a friend sees you from afar and swings by your table to say hi. Since they’re standing, you should definitely be standing up as well when you’re chatting with them, as a sign of respect. Hong Kong Chinese can be reserved and uncomfortable with body contact, so avoid hugging, kissing, or patting people on the back. Now that you know a bit about these customs, you’re ready to try these out in Hong Kong! View  our current opportunities there on our job board.

Excel Tips All College Students Should Know

Excel Tips All College Students Should Know Image via Udemy Excel seems like a foreign language to those who are unfamiliar with spreadsheets and numbers. As a finance major, I took for granted my opportunity to learn Excel within my classes. Data Journalism is one of the classes required for my professional writing minor, and we are learning basic Excel, which I learned during my freshman year of college. I wanted to share some tips and useful functions that I have learned over the years to help students who are not part of the business schools become more familiar with using databases and visualizing data. Excel can even be used for personal budgeting or habit tracking! Here are some of the things I feel are important for students to know. 1. Creating Charts Some people love visuals, and Excel provides tools that make it so much easier to look at all your information. Charts are useful for anything from budgeting your money to tracking your exercise progress. Here is a step-by-step guide to creating Excel charts that will make your life so much easier. 2.  Sorting and Filtering Data Excel allows you to easily change the order of your data to one that makes sense. You have the option to filter alphabetically from A to Z or backward, or a custom sort of whatever field you would like. Filtering makes it easy to select options with a certain feature that you are looking for. Here is a video that demonstrates sorting and filtering. 3. Important Formulas Excel has so many different formulas, but the most simple and time-saving ones are as follows: •SUM: Automatically adds numbers together •IF: Allows you to manipulate results (For example, in words this would be: Make this cell say yes if the content of the cell 5) •AVERAGE, MEDIAN, MODE, MIN, MAX: Yup, Excel does all of this for you! •DATE and TIME: Literally inserts the day and time into your worksheet The best part about the formulas is if you click the little fx button next to the typing bar, Excel opens a dialog box that gives step by step directions on how to complete it! 4.  Quick Tips   Here are some of my best tips for navigating through Excel as quickly as possible! •Use the fx button to complete formulas you are unfamiliar with. •If the cell you are working with becomes too small for the text you are typing in it, double click the line next to the letter of the column, and it will expand the cell to the size of your text. •To quickly add up a set of numbers, use the autosum button on the formulas tab it is a sigma! •If you want to copy the contents of a cell to the rest of the column or row, click on the cell, and move your cursor to the bottom right corner of the cell. When the white cross turns black, you can drag it either horizontally or vertically to copy the contents of the cell to additional places. •Create a Macro to repeat tasks easily when there are several steps. Learn how here. Excel is a super useful tool for organizing and visualizing data, and I hope these tips help you use the software more quickly and efficiently!

PETA Attacks Pokmon Over Animal Abuse

PETA Attacks Pokmon Over Animal Abuse Photo by lydia_shiningbrightly on Flickr.com PETA’s virtual picketing line simulates an alternate Pokémon universe, where users play as an escaped Pikachu who fights trainers in order to free other Pokémon. But why is PETA narrowing in on the seemingly innocuous children’s game? According to PETAs official statement, the game, which typically has gamers fighting and capturing various Pokémon, is actually a form of abuse. Players must hurt the creatures in order to capture them and when confronted by other trainers, are forced to “kill” them in order to progress in the game. However, as others have speculated, the obvious problem with claiming Pokémon showcases a form of animal abuse is that the game is digital and the pixilated subjects PETA is trying to protect exist outside of reality. Much like animals in the real world, Pokémon are treated as unfeeling objects and used for such things as human entertainment and as subjects in experiments,” PETA said in a formal response on its website. The statement continues, The way that Pokémon are stuffed into Pokéballs is similar to how circuses chain elephants inside railroad cars and let them out only to perform confusing and often painful tricks that were taught using sharp steel-tipped bullhooks and electric shock prods.” For an organization devoted to the humane treatment of animals, PETA has become notorious for its shocking and often ludicrous tactics to generate awareness. In fact, this isn’t the first time a PETA campaign has been centered on the treatment of fictional animals. The group has also targeted World of Warcraft, the popular online role-playing game, for an aspect of gameplay involving clubbing animated seals. Avid gamer Alejandro Martin, 24, of Fairfax, Va., finds fault in PETA for attacking games with fictional abuse, saying, “Its almost sad that they get so passionate because it blinds them of the fact that they are ruining it for their own cause. Ultimately their message is lost in the irrationality of it all.” “The fact that they spend the time to criticize animated animal abuse means that they believe it’s on the same level as actual animal abuse,” Cecelia Kampsen, a sophomore at the University of Maryland added. “To insinuate that is absolutely ridiculous and PETA should use its resources for campaigns created to protect animals that truly exist.” Yet even outside of cyberspace, PETA still loves to generate as much publicity as possible while imparting its message. PETA’s most notable campaign comes from anti-fur advertisements, which feature celebrities in the nude with the tagline “I’d rather go naked than wear fur.” Even as recently as Oct. 11, PETA released a racy ad with Jersey Shore star “The Situation” that read “Too Much Pu**y Can Be A Bad Thing,” to promote its neuter or spray your pet movement. Unfortunately for PETA, some people, like University of Maryland junior George Struder, note that the group’s latest gimmicks used to promote the ethical treatment of animals is having an adverse effect on the actual issue at hand. “PETAs use of parody isnt so much overboard as it is ignorant,” Struder said. “Their retaliation is promoting violence in a format that is easily accessible to children and, quite frankly, it makes them seem hypocritical at best. Their methods only works to undermine their values and defame their organization.”

What Is Chemistry Is A Must Read For High School Students

What Is Chemistry Is A Must Read For High School StudentsWhat Is Chemistry is a book that does more than just teach chemistry. It teaches the basics of how the five basic elements work and what they do. It also teaches how to use elements like aluminum, oxygen, potassium, magnesium, sodium, calcium, manganese, iron, copper, lead, sulfur, bromine, and chlorine to manufacture new compounds. As a result, it is used to help students learn more about the nature of chemical reactions and also how to use them to make things like plastics, fuels, and chemicals. What Is Chemistry also helps in the development of future engineers. Because the chemical elements can be made into various types of devices, a person who decides to study engineering needs to understand how to operate the device that will be made with the elements. By having a fundamental understanding of what a device uses when it works will help him or her to apply their knowledge in a way that will advance their careers. What Is Che mistry is very popular among both high school and college students. It has been an invaluable teaching tool for those students who have been lacking in the fundamentals of the subject. With so many opportunities available in the world today, there is no reason why anyone who has studied chemistry as part of their high school curriculum should not take what Us Chemistry. What Is Chemistry was written by Dr. Benjamin Pope. The story revolves around a father, a son, and a daughter who become involved in the question of what science is. What makes the book unique is the fact that the reader learns a lot of information about the elements and the things that they can be used for.The lesson plan in What Is Chemistry is very simple. There are several lessons that cover each element and how it can be used to create a variety of chemical compounds. For example, there is a lesson that covers bromine and chlorine and teaches the student how to combine them together to create a liquid or gas.The lesson plans in What Is Chemistry are very easy to follow. There are pictures to help guide the student through what it is that they are learning and there are timelines to follow to help give the information on how a device can be created. What Is Chemistry has proven to be an invaluable educational tool. Not only can it provide important information, but it can also be used to help students who have had difficulty learning about chemical reactions because they have had difficulties with the fundamentals of chemistry.

Expected Value Statistics - Online Math Tutoring

Expected Value Statistics - Online Math Tutoring Definition: - The expected value of a discrete random variable x is the value that is expected to occur per repetition, on average, if an experiment is repeated a large number of times. It is denoted by E(x) and calculated as E(x)= x P(x) The expected value is also known as mean and is denoted by ; that is = x P(x) Example:- Below the probability distribution table where x represents the number of breakdowns for a machine during a given week, and P(x) is the probability of the corresponding value of x x P(x) 0 0.15 1 0.20 2 0.35 3 0.30 To find the expected value of breakdowns per week for this machine, we multiply each value of x by its probability and these products. This sum gives the mean of the probability distribution of x. The products x P(x) are listed in the third column of the below table. The sum of these products give x P(x) which is the expected value of x. Calculating the expected value for the probability distribution of breakdowns. X P(x) x P(x) 0 0.15 0*0.15= 0 1 0.20 1*0.20= 0.20 2 0.35 2*0.35= 0.70 3 0.30 3*0.30= 0.90 x P(x)=1.80 The expected value is E(x)= 1.80

5 Reasons Why Youre Bored at Work - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / 5 Reasons Why You’re Bored at Work - Introvert Whisperer 5 Reasons Why You’re Bored at Work If you find yourself often bored at work, perhaps even most of the time, then you’re not alone. Many of us spend big chunks of our waking hours disengaged in what we’re doing, just going through the motions because that’s what we need to do in order to achieve certain results and earn a living wage. But constant boredom at work can gnaw at you. It makes life dull and unfulfilling. So in order to find a career that you look forward to waking up to, instead of dreading, it helps to know exactly why you’re bored at work. And there seem to be five main reasons why your job makes you watch the clock for the day to end, rather than fully engage your focus and energy. The work is uninteresting If you find that your work is uninteresting, then it’s going to be a real struggle to commit your full attention to it. Obviously, life can’t be interesting all of the time. There are certain mundane things that we have to do that we can’t drop just because we find them mundane. But when we’re talking about our jobs â€" which we spend 7+ hours a day doing â€" then it’s a different matter altogether. Also, there are uninteresting things we simply have to do (such as doing our tax returns), whereas we have a large degree of autonomy when it comes to our career choices. If you’re bored at work, then it may be the case that you have a job that doesn’t match your interests. There has to be at least some aspect of your job that interests you â€" the industry, company, tasks, goals, work environment or the people you work with â€" in order to feel engaged and content with what you’re doing. The work is uncreative  You may also be bored at work if you’re not able to find a creative outlet. Some of us are more inclined towards creative pursuits than others. However, having opportunities to devise and manifest original ideas is an important part of what makes work a worthwhile activity. If your work has little room for innovation, imagination, and individual input, then it will feel grey and be stifling. There’s nothing wrong doing rule-bound, routine tasks â€" they’re often necessary. But when a job is completely devoid of creativity, it can become tedious and unpleasant. The work isn’t meaningful  Meaningful work is work that makes a difference in some way or another. As humans, we strive to find meaning in our lives, and when it’s absent, we feel dissatisfied. Boredom at work could, therefore, arise from the feeling that your job is not adding value to anyone’s life or to society at large. Staving off boredom at work requires us to do tasks that can affect positive change in the world and that allow us to see the fruits of our labour. This doesn’t mean you have to become a renowned environmental campaigner or human rights lawyer. If you can help provide people with a valuable product or service that improves their lives, and can receive positive feedback about doing so, then this is also meaningful.   The work isn’t challenging enough Without challenges in our lives, we don’t grow. And work is no exception. If your job isn’t bringing out your potential and challenging you to achieve much more than you currently are, then the work can start to feel pointless and aimless. Of course, work can be challenging if you have a lot of hours to work, a lot of tasks to juggle, and a tyrannical micromanaging boss to deal with. But these aren’t the kinds of challenges that stop people feeling bored and that help them grow. They wear employees out. What you may really need to feel absorbed in your work is responsibility for a project or the development of a new skill. You’re behind a desk all day  Some of us get incredibly bored sitting behind a desk all day. Even if you spend some time chatting with co-workers, an office job may still mean that the majority of your day is sitting down, staring at a computer screen. If you’re more of the active type and feel chained to your desk, then it’s worth following a career path that allows you to work with your hands, move around a lot, be out and about or interact with people more.   Author Bio: Sam Woolfe writes for Inspiring Interns, which specialises in sourcing candidates for  internships  and  graduate jobs.
